House used to irritate me, but then I started getting into it. The point is the episode "Three Stories". I loved the way the director/script-writer held the threads together, had them talking to each other and in the end, bringing it all together. Another great demonstration is... well, actually it;s hard to name any one episodem so why don't you do yourself a big favour and watch Sports Night.

I know what you mean. TV is supposed to be entertainment, dammit! You shouldn't have to keep track of lots of storylines in order to enjoy yourself. Unfortunately, in some (lucrative) audience target segments, it's those very sub-plots that get people seriously hooked. Fortunately, not that many shows are into the whole multiple storyline thing yet. And it's unlikely that it'll be the dominant format for years to come.

I find that a lot of shows are just filling up too much with storylines. Take cop shows, for example, like Law & Order, have started having personal plots going through them. I just wish they'd stick to the one plot, or maybe two. That's all I can handle! :D
