		<description>Great post, juicy links. Makes me think of writing a circus novel - I've always secretly wanted to. I love the idea of clowning as subversive and dangerous. When I was a little girl I wanted to be a clown, mostly I think because I suspected there was rich undercurrents and nuances underneath the clown mask. Everyone thought I met a happy circus clown, but it was actually sad Pierrot who fascinated me.

"Pierrot is also portrayed as a lunatic, as a person outside reality, in a state of unawareness, to whom nothing matters..." from Wikipedia. Sounds a bit like some stages of childhood.</description>
